Nordic Skiing

Nordic Skiing

McCall has world class nordic skiing, a statement echoed throughout the nordic community, and solidified with 2008's hosting of the Nordic World Masters event. Some of the premier trails are found at Ponderosa State Park, Bear Basin, Jug Mountain Ranch, and Tamarack Resort.

SKIING the Resorts

Resort SkiingMcCall's skiing tradition is rich in both history and reputation as a place where deep powder skiing is more the norm than the exception, where kids start skiing at age 2, and as a place where Olympic athletes are born. McCall has bred a half dozen Olympic athletes, most of which got their start at the Little Ski Hill.

Brundage Mountain Resort has been known for years as a powder lovers dream and Tamarack Resort has done a better job accommodating every kind of skier & boarder than just about any resort in the country. Even for the snowshoer, the resort makes it easy to ride the chair to access the summit ridge and enjoy winter in a spectacular setting.

SkierFor off piste enthusiastists, go north or south out of bounds (expert/experienced backcountry skiers/boarders only) and you'll find steep chutes, glades, and open untracked bowls. The snowboarders seem quite content with terrain parks, a grand superpipe, and off piste lines as well.

With three resorts accommodating to the young and old, beginners and Olympic athletes, nordic, downhill, telemark, randonee, and backcountry skiers, McCall holds true to its nickname as "Ski Town USA." And if you'd rather not wait in long lift lines, skiing in McCall is for you. In addition to quality skiing, the price is right too: a Brundage Mountain Resort adult season pass [purchased early season - before March 5th] is under $300. No lift lines, low prices, and deep powder -- McCall is a skiing/boarding paradise.
