AREA INFORMATION Mountain Biking

above Josephine LakeMcCall, Idaho offers fine mountain biking and is an unknown gem in the world of high country and backcountry wilderness riding. And the beauty of McCall's extensive network of trails is that many can be ridden from downtown McCall, and the rest are all within a one hour's drive from town.

Trails range from great introductory, beginner and intermediate single or double track rides like riding around Payette Lake, the Huckleberry Trail in CIMBA president on technical singletrackPonderosa State Park, and the vast network of trails from the Bear Basin Trailhead. Brundage Mountain offers lift served mountain biking, with their premier trail being the Elk Trail where you can start at the fire lookout at the summit and descend sweet singletrack all the way to the base. The east side of the mountain has such fine rides as the Payette Rim Trail, with epic views of the lake; and the moto trali - fast, smooth, and with some nice technical thrown in.

On the east side of the lake, the Xterra Trail is a technical beauty with a pristine alpine lake at the top. Head up Warren Wagon Road, and such Idaho classics as the Bear Pete Trail (19 miles of ridgetop singletrack) or Loon Lake click here for video likely one of the finest mountain bike trails in Idaho. 10 Mike Maciaszek on the Bear Pete Trailminutes south of town are the Jug Mountain Ranch trails with rides for all abilities, including park features.
